After years of speculation, Elite Dangerous unveils the highly-requested iconic Panther Clipper Mk II
It’s true! The Panther Clipper Mk II is real! Following years of community speculation, memes and theories, Zorgon Peterson’s iconic vessel returns to Elite Dangerous, confirmed on today’s (April 30th) Frontier Unlocked. A colossal ship capable of hauling an impressive amount of cargo, the Panther Clipper Mk II is the ultimate trader, well equipped for supporting System Colonisation efforts which began in February’s Trailblazers update.
Teased at Pitcon 2025 and subsequently fully announced on today’s (30th April) Frontier Unlocked livestream, Art Director Chris Gregory joined host Arthur Tolmie to discuss how this historic ship is being brought to Elite Dangerous, including how the Mk II model evolves this legendary design as Frontier welcomes a new generation of Commanders to the controls.
The Panther Clipper first appeared in Frontier: Elite II and became an iconic ship for its sheer size and cargo capacity. Commanders have observed the Panther Clipper name multiple times in a constant search for the ship’s return throughout Elite Dangerous’ 10 year history, eventually becoming a popular community meme in reference to a ship that would never see the light of day. However, that day is very much now on the horizon with these early concept images of the Mk II.
The Panther Clipper Mk II will be available in Arx Early Access this summer, with the date to be confirmed on a future Frontier Unlocked stream.
